

The Office of the Resident Representative of the President of the ECOWAS Commission in Liberia successfully convened its 2026 Annual Staff Retreat from 2 to 4 March 2026 at the Farmington Hotel, Margibi County.
The retreat brought together staff from the Resident Representative’s Office to undertake a reflective assessment of the office’s programmes and activities in Liberia. It further served as a platform for strategic planning for the upcoming quarter, reinforcing ECOWAS’ commitment to operational excellence and sustained impact in the country.
Held under the theme “Empowering Teams, Advancing Goals,” the retreat underscored not only the importance of internal cohesion but also the organization’s strategic role in supporting Liberia’s growing leadership within the ECOWAS community. Staff participated in interactive workshops, team-building exercises, and strategic dialogues designed to align institutional priorities with broader regional integration objectives, including infrastructure development, social equity, and cross-border cooperation.

Reflecting on the outcomes of the retreat, Her Excellency Josephine Nkrumah, Resident Representative, expressed profound appreciation to the office team for their unwavering support throughout her tour of duty, which concludes in March 2026. She underscored the necessity of building a more cohesive and collaborative team within the Resident Representative’s Office to ensure that ECOWAS’s visibility and developmental footprint remain both tangible and enduring. The Ambassador also conveyed her appreciation to the leadership of the ECOWAS Radio and the Coordinator of the Volunteer Program who participated in the final day discussions to align our goals and objectives in Liberia.
The retreat reaffirmed ECOWAS’s dedication to cultivating a supportive environment in which every contribution advances shared success, while positioning the organization as a proactive and responsive partner in Liberia’s regional engagement.
