On 19th August 2026, the Director and Deputy to the High Representative for the UN Organisation for Disarmament (UNODA), Dr. Adedeji EBO, paid a courtesy visit to H.E DR. Omar Alieu TOURAY, President of the Commission in Abuja, Nigeria.

The courtesy visit provided the opportunity for the President of the ECOWAS Commission to exchange views with Dr. Adedeji Ebo on regional disarmament, non-proliferation, peace and security, and the future of ECOWAS–UNODA/UNREC cooperation. The visit also places the meeting within broader engagements that are envisaged to culminate in the signing of an Addendum to the existing MoU between ECOWAS and UNODA/UNREC.
