THE OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT ORGANIZED AN ANNUAL RETREAT TO STRENGTHEN COHESION AND OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCY
20 Apr, 2026The Office of the Vice President (OVP) held its annual retreat at the CEEDAPEG Hotel in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, from April 14 to 17, 2026. Under the theme “Effective Skills for Strengthening Team Spirit,” this strategic meeting aimed to assess the effectiveness of the OVP’s mandate while identifying solutions to structural challenges.
This initiative is part of an effort to foster a culture of collaboration, efficiency, trust, and accountability within the institution. It brought together a diverse panel of participants, including staff members, consultants, and young professionals.
The retreat was structured around specific objectives aimed at transforming internal work dynamics: -A shared vision: Building a common approach to human relations and teamwork within the OVP; -Fundamental principles: Reviewing and testing understanding of the basic principles of teamwork to strengthen camaraderie among staff members; -Operational clarity: Promote a thorough understanding of the objectives, expectations, and responsibilities of each operational center and program; -Process improvement: Formulate relevant suggestions to optimize communication and collaboration during project implementation; -Transition and Sustainability: Design a team-building mechanism for the incoming Vice President to ensure a smooth transition in future operations.
The work carried out during this four-day session identified the critical issues affecting the vision for teamwork within the OVP. A rigorous analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and constraints was conducted to ensure positive relationships both within and outside the Office.
The conclusions from this retreat will serve as a technical roadmap to strengthen internal governance and ensure more effective implementation of the mandates entrusted to the Office of the Vice President.
