ROLE OVERVIEW

Under the guidance and direct supervision of the PPO Multilateral Surveillance, the incumbent will be responsible for the review, analysis and drafting of ECOWAS Macroeconomic Convergence reports, ECOWAS Interim and Annual Reports and all other policy documents of multilateral surveillance, with reference on Real and Government Sectors.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

·       Ensure follow-up of activities in the real and government sectors of the national economies.

·       Ensure follow-up on harmonization on economic and financial policies of Members States, especially as it relate to Real and Government sectors.

·       Analysis and report on economic performance of Member States.

·       Follow-up on various fiscal operations of member states, and evaluation of their economic performance based on approved macroeconomic convergence criteria.

·       Participate in the preparation of ECOWASS bi-annual Macroeconomic Convergence Reports and review of the reports of the National Coordination Committees with particular focus on Real and government Sectors.

·       Follow-up on the implementation and updating of ECOMAC database with respect to real and Government Sector.

·       Execute all tasks as required by superior officers.

 

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

·       At least a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Economics and Statistics from a university of recognized standing.

·       A minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in economic research and analysis, policy formulation, application of economic principles in development programmes or related area; including the application economics principles, concepts, and methods to macroeconomic development issues

  • Good knowledge of principles and operational provisions as well as excellent experience in multilateral surveillance activities.
  • Proven working experience in the formulation and implementation of Real and Government Sector policies.
  • Proven experience in drawing up a multilateral surveillance report.
  • Proven experience in the use of forecasting and macroeconomic analysis tools.
