ROLE OVERVIEW

Under the supervision of the Director, Communication, the incumbent will coordinate and supervise all programs at ECOWAS Radio.

 

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and supervise all relevant programmes.
  • Create new programs; initiate new radio projects.
  • Develop, write, edit and broadcast radio programs.
  • Develop matrixes for implementation.
  • Ensure visibility to ECOWAS in Liberia and the sub-region.
  • Highlight ECOWAS collaboration with civil society groups and others.
  • Educate the public on the formation, duties, policies, protocols, programmes, activities, etc. of ECOWAS.
  • Supervise production staff and radio production activities.
  • Produce jingles and messages for the station and for ECOWAS major activities.
  • Take on extra assignments as deemed necessary by management.
  • Audition all programs for airing.
  • Plan and coordinate activities for effective radio coverage of special events, including
  • LIVE broadcasts whenever need arises
  • Coordinate the operations of radio in consultation with the Director, Communication.
  • Perform any other task as assigned by the supervisor.

 

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

·       Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Public Relations, Mass Communication or related field from a recognized University.

·       Seven (7) years responsible experience in journalism, strategic communications, public information, or international relations.

·       Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of strategy and guidelines for internal communications and the production of innovative platforms for the promotion of internal communication in ECOWAS.

·       Proven knowledge of communication, information and public relations and the ability to diplomatically handle sensitive situations with target audiences and cultivate productive relationships.

·       Fluency in oral and written expressions in one of the ECOWAS official languages of the Community (English, French & Portuguese). Knowledge of an additional one will be an added advantage.

·       Knowledge of internal planning cycles and ability to contribute to the development and to implement Community-wide or institution policy by determining target audience, building coalitions with the appropriate population, and monitor progress.

·       Ability to consider external circumstances, factors and trends when organizing project activities to ensure the best outcomes.

·       Ability to review process outcomes, correspondence, reports, and policy documents to develop achievable plans.

·       Ability to conduct meetings with staff, stakeholders, colleagues, and others to ascertain organizational program and/or project needs, making adjustments to plans and activities accordingly.
