REGIONAL OFF-REGIONAL ELECTRICITY ACCESS PROJET (ROGEAP)
The ECOWAS Commissioner for Internal Services, Professor Nazifi Abdullahi Darma, on behalf of the President of the Commission, His Excellency Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, officially launched a capacity-building workshop for over 50 small and medium-sized enterprises in the off-grid solar photovoltaic sector in Abuja, Nigeria, on Monday March 10, 2025.
The training, which is part of the implementation of ROGEAP project activities, runs until 12th March. At the end of this capacity-building workshop, recipients will have:
- A good understanding of the ROGEAP subsidy mechanism and access to financing;
- A good command of off-grid solar photovoltaic technology, the quality assurance framework (standards), environmental and social aspects;
- Tools to develop business models and market expansion strategies,
The Ecobank Nigeria representative reaffirmed the pan-African banking group’s readiness to support the sector and strengthen its collaboration with the ECOWAS Commission.
ROGEAP is a project jointly funded by the World Bank, the Clean Technology Fund and the Netherlands Directorate General for International Cooperation and is being implemented by the ECOWAS Commission’s Department of Infrastructure, Energy and Digitization for its Component 1 (Developing a Regional Market for Autonomous Solar Systems). ROGEAP covers 19 countries, including those of ECOWAS.
