THE ECOWAS PERMANENT MISSION IN THE GAMBIA MONITORS THE SUPPLEMENTARY VOTER REGISTRATION CAMPAIGN IN FOUR ADMINISTRATIVE REGIONS
21 May, 2026The ECOWAS Permanent Mission in The Gambia undertook a three-day visit to four (4) administrative regions to observe the supplementary voter registration campaign, which took place from May 10 to 13, 2026, in The Gambia.
In accordance with The Gambia’s 2026–2027 electoral calendar Gambia, the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of Gambia officially launched the supplementary voter registration campaign on April 8, 2026, which will last 44 days and conclude on May 21, 2026, in preparation for the highly anticipated presidential election scheduled for December 5, 2026.
This nationwide initiative constitutes a crucial step in ensuring the integrity of the upcoming electoral cycle, including
the 2026 presidential elections and the 2027 legislative and municipal elections.
Consequently, recognizing the importance of this exercise as an integral part of the electoral process, and in accordance
with the 2026 work plan approved by the ECOWAS Permanent Mission (EPM), the Mission undertook a three-day observation visit to registration centers in four administrative regions of the country, namely the Haut-Flou (Basse), the Rive Nord region (Farafenni), the Bas-Flou region (Soma), and the Côte-Ouest region (Sibanor)
