ROLE OVERVIEW Under the overall guidance and supervision of the Principal Officer, Regional Security, the Programme Assistant, Regional Security provides administrative and Programme assistance to Regional Security Programme and ensures efficient day-to-day functioning of administrative processes in the Division.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Programme or project administration, technical cooperation, or related area. · Experience working in an international organization or at a multi-country level is highly desirable. · Knowledge of and ability to identify the required resources for programs/ projects and to perform specific specialized activities aimed at effective and efficient functioning of the Programme team. · Knowledge of internal policies, processes, and procedures generally and those related to Programme/project administration, implementation and evaluation, technical cooperation, programming, and budgeting. · Demonstrated knowledge of project management methods (including budget management, reporting monitoring and evaluation · Experience in record keeping, report writing, and Programme assistance is required. · Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues is required. · Ability to set priorities and work within a work schedule. · Ability to work efficiently under pressure, and to juggle tasks and meet deadlines. · Knowledge of the ECOWAS Commission and its mandates and relevant instruments in peace and security will be an advantage.

· Well-developed information sharing skills using technology and in accordance with established processes and practices. · Advanced verbal assertiveness and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to acknowledge and understand the validity of others’ viewpoints and to respond in a constructive manner.

Assessment of qualified candidates may include a written exercise and a competency-based interview.
