ROLE OVERVIEW The incumbent is responsible for providing quality nursing care to ECOWAS Staff and their dependants as well as affiliated ECOWAS partners. The position is responsible for maintaining the quality and adequacy of nursing practice; for coordinating welllness programs; for recognizing and assisting in solving professional, administrative problems in an assigned area. Position exercises considerable judgment in applying professional knowledge in solving nursing problems within established policies and practices and is reviewed by the supervisor through conferences, reports and observation of results obtained.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES · Assist the In-house doctor. · Work with In-house doctor and specialists to develop and implement individualized care plans. · Provide nursing services with the highest ethical and professional standards. · Provide emergency services whenever the need arises. · Provide out-of-clinic nursing services for ECOWAS organized events. · Administer medications, change wound dressings, and perform diagnostic tests. · Respond promptly to emergency situations and changes in patient status. · Transfer of patients to retainer hospitals when necessary. · Carry out home visits when necessary. · Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, illnesses, and self-care. · Identify and raise request for consumables for clinic use. · Keep drug register. · Maintain detailed, accurate, and confidential electronic health records (EHR). · Keep patients medical records. · Perform physical examinations, take vital signs, and assess patient health needs · Performs other duties as required.
ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE · Brevet de Technicien (BT)/OND or equivalent in nursing hospital-based program from a recognized University or accredited school. · 5 years of progressively practical, hands-on experience in hospitals or community settings, which is embedded in nursing programs. · Proficiency in patient assessment, medication administration, and monitoring vital signs. · Strong interpersonal communication, empathy, high attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm in crises. · Experience in specific areas like gerontology, pediatrics, or administering medication, wound care, and operating medical equipment like EKG machines. · Knowledge of human resources policies, procedures and practices relating to specific unit of job function. · Working knowledge of standard computer applications and of SAP HCM modules in performing specialized or complex tasks · In-depth knowledge of Medical and Wellness Management best practices

Knowledge of an additional one will be an added advantage. · Ability to allocate time for specific tasks in a manner that will meet deadlines and quality/quantity expectations. · Good organizational skills with an excellent ability to break down work into smaller parts and focus on the most important steps first. · Ability to contribute to maintaining organizational performance standards throughout the implementation of new processes, practices and plans adopted by the Department and of relevance to assigned tasks. · Ability to monitor progress and to consider new goals in the context of assigned responsibilities. · Ability to follow through with commitments made to others. |
