The session brought together world leaders to reflect on eight decades of multilateralism and to chart new pathways for strengthening cooperation in addressing global challenges.

The ECOWAS delegation was led by H.E. The delegation attended the opening session and followed the General Debate, during which Heads of State, Heads of Government, and representatives of ECOWAS Member States addressed the Assembly.

On the margins of the debates, the delegation also participated in high-level side events and held bilateral meetings focused on strategic issues for the region, including peace and security, sustainable development, development financing, climate change, and inclusive governance.

ECOWAS’s participation in UNGA80 highlighted the importance of regional integration, peace, and development, while reaffirming the Community’s commitment to strengthening multilateralism and ensuring that the region’s aspirations remain central to the international agenda.
