DEVELOPMENT OF REFERENCE SHEET OF CORE INDICATORS FOR ECOWAS VISION 2050
25 Mar, 2026The Directorate of Strategic Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation is has begun a five-day workshop titled “Workshop for the Development of Reference Sheet of Core Indicators for ECOWAS Vision 2050* 23 – 27 March 2026 at Zuma Rock Resort, Niger State, Nigeria.
The workshop brings together representatives from ECOWAS Institutions, Directorates, and Agencies to strengthen the monitoring and evaluation framework for ECOWAS Vision 2050. The primary objective is to develop a comprehensive profile for each core indicator under the Vision, thereby enabling effective tracking of progress across its strategic orientations.
Specifically, the workshop aims to:
- Validate the list of core indicators under each pillar, drawing from existing indicators currently utilized by ECOWAS Institutions, Directorates, and Agencies.
- Identify and establish reliable data sources within Member States for the generation of these indicators.
- Develop a comprehensive reference sheet for each core indicator.
- Design a standardized data collection methodology for all core indicators.
- Produce a detailed manual of ECOWAS Vision 2050 Core Indicators.
At the end of the workshop, key outputs will include a draft ECOWAS Vision 2050 Core Indicators Manual, incorporating comprehensive reference sheets for each indicator. These reference sheets will provide precise definitions, as well as clear and harmonized methodologies for data collection and reporting.
This initiative represents a critical step toward strengthening evidence-based planning, monitoring, and evaluation within ECOWAS, ensuring the effective implementation and tracking of Vision 2050 goals.
