Courtesy visit of the deputy high commissioner of the republic of South Africa to the ECOWAS Commission

The ECOWAS Commission received the Deputy High Commissioner of the Republic of South Africa, Mrs. Lindi Mmnele, during a courtesy visit to its headquarters in Abuja, Federal Republic of Nigeria.

The meeting took place in a cordial and constructive atmosphere, providing both parties with the opportunity to exchange views on regional priorities and developments in the political, economic, and security landscapes within the subregion. Discussions focused on the current security situation, joint initiatives aimed at strengthening stability and resilience among Member States, as well as economic prospects, highlighting both the progress achieved and the persistent challenges to regional development.

A particular point of interest during the dialogue concerned the relationship between ECOWAS and its former Member States, with emphasis on the importance of dialogue and reintegration as part of broader efforts to reinforce African unity and solidarity.

Through this engagement, ECOWAS and the Republic of South Africa reaffirmed their shared vision of a continent anchored in cooperation, peace, and inclusive and sustainable growth. The visit also reflects ECOWAS’ ongoing commitment to strengthening consultation and collaboration with African diplomatic missions accredited to the Commission, with a view to fostering mutual understanding and promoting strategic partnerships across the continent.
