NEWLY APPOINTED FORCE COMMANDER VISITS GHANCOY 4 OF THE ECOWAS STABILISATION SUPPORT MISSION IN GUINEA-BISSAU (ESSMGB)
12 Apr, 2026The newly appointed Force Commander (FC) of the ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB), Brigadier General Danjuma Ribah Dantani, on Friday 10 April 2026 paid a familiarisation visit to Ghana Company 4 (GHANCOY 4) located at the Presidential Palace in Bissau.
Brigadier General Dantani assumed office as Force Commander of ESSMGB on Tuesday 7 April 2026, taking over from Brigadier General EO Ojabo. The visit to GHANCOY 4 formed part of his ongoing familiarisation tour of Units under the Mission, aimed at strengthening command engagement and gaining firsthand insight into operational realities on the ground.
During the visit, the Combat Team Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Keelson Ekow Amoah, briefed the Force Commander on the Company’s operations, logistics and administrative framework. This was followed by a tour of the Camp and an all-ranks durbar, providing an opportunity for direct interaction with personnel.
In his remarks, the Force Commander expressed satisfaction with the operational readiness of GHANCOY 4 and commended the leadership of the Combat Team Commander for efforts made in improving infrastructure and prioritising troop welfare. He encouraged the personnel to sustain the high operational standards achieved and emphasised the importance of vigilance and alertness in light of the evolving political and security context in the country.
The visit reaffirmed the Force Commander’s commitment to strengthening operational effectiveness, maintaining discipline and ensuring the continued readiness of ESSMGB personnel in support of peace and stability in Guinea-Bissau.
