LAUNCH OF FEMUA 2026: ECOWAS REAFFIRMS ITS COMMITMENT BY PROMOTING CULTURE AS A DRIVER OF INTEGRATION AND SOCIAL INCLUSION

As part of ECOWAS’s support for the activities of FEMUA (Anoumabo Urban Music Festival), a leading cultural and social platform dedicated to promoting education and community development, Dr Roland Kouakou, Director of Education, Science and Culture at ECOWAS, took part on Tuesday 28 April 2026 in the official launch ceremony of the festival, held under the theme: ‘Artificial Intelligence: Threat or Opportunity for Africa?’.

This participation is part of ECOWAS’s commitment to promoting education, innovation, regional integration and youth engagement in the strategic challenges facing the continent’s development.

The ceremony was attended by Ms Kandia Kamara, patron of the event, under the patronage of Her Excellency Ms Kandia Kamissoko Camara, President of the Senate of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire. Gabon, the guest of honour, was represented by its Minister for Youth, responsible for the Promotion of Talent and the Professional Integration of Young People, as well as by a representative of the President of the Gabonese Republic.

Also in attendance were Ms Françoise Remarck, Minister for Culture and Francophonie, and Mr Ibrahim Kalil Konaté, Minister for Digital Transition and Digitalisation, alongside members of the Government, the diplomatic corps and dignitaries from national and international institutions.

Beyond its artistic dimension, FEMUA stands out as a vehicle for education, awareness-raising and dialogue, serving an informed and engaged African youth.
