ECOWAS STABILISATION SUPPORT MISSION IN GUINEA-BISSAU (ESSMGB) GHANCOY 4 DONATES EDUCATIONAL MATERIALS TO ISLAMIC SCHOOL DURING RAMADAN

The ECOWAS Stabilisation Support Mission in Guinea-Bissau (ESSMGB), through Ghana Company 4 (GHANCOY 4), donated 500 exercise books to the Centro Escolar Attadanun Islamic School in Bairo Ajuda, Bissau, as part of its Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC) activities during the holy month of Ramadan. The initiative, undertaken as an act of Zakat, contributes to ongoing efforts to support education and strengthen community well-being in Guinea-Bissau.

During the donation ceremony, the Combat Team Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Isaac Keelson Ekow Amoah, stated that the gesture was intended to support the Government’s efforts to improve education in Guinea-Bissau. He noted that the decision to donate to an Islamic school during Ramadan was both deliberate and symbolic, reflecting an act of worship and solidarity. He further indicated that the initiative was made possible through the support of the Rotary Club of Kumasi-East.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the school, the Deputy Director, Mussa Buaro, expressed appreciation to GHANCOY 4 for the support provided during the holy month of Ramadan. He emphasised that education remains a pathway to a brighter future for every child and described the donation of exercise books as a valuable investment in the future of the students. He also acknowledged the positive impact of the ECOWAS mission on the lives of communities in Guinea-Bissau.

This activity forms part of a series of CIMIC initiatives undertaken by ESSMGB GHANCOY 4 to support local communities and promote social cohesion. Previous interventions include a medical outreach conducted in Quenhaque, in the Cacheu Region, in September 2025, supported by Tobinco Pharmaceuticals Limited and the Rotary Club of Kumasi-East, as well as donations to the Lar Fonte de Vida Orphanage in Quelele, Bissau, during the 2025 Christmas season.
