ECOWAS COMMISSION VICE-PRESIDENT MEETS WITH TOGO’S MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

A delegation from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, led by Her Excellency Mrs Damtien Tchintchibidja, Vice-President of the ECOWAS Commission, visited Lomé on Thursday 26 February 2026 to meet with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation, African Integration and Togolese Abroad, Mr Robert Dussey.

 

This meeting was part of the preparations for the Summit of the Future and the culmination of activities marking the 50th anniversary of ECOWAS. It enabled both parties to review the progress of organisational arrangements and strengthen coordination with a view to ensuring the success of these important regional events.

 

During the discussions, the Togolese foreign minister reaffirmed Togo’s willingness and commitment to support the ECOWAS Commission in its preparations. He also praised the quality of the partnership between Togo and the sub-regional institution, while emphasising the importance of the Summit of the Future for consolidating West African integration.

 

For her part, Her Excellency the Vice-President of ECOWAS expressed her satisfaction with the mobilisation of the Togolese authorities and the spirit of collaboration that characterised the discussions.

 

This working visit marks an important step in the preparations for the Summit of the Future and the ECOWAS 50th anniversary celebrations, which are set to open up new prospects for the Organisation for the benefit of the region’s populations
