The ECOWAS Gender Development Center (EGDC) under the leadership of Prof. Fatou SOW SARR, Commissioner for Human Development and Social Affairs (DHAS) of the ECOWAS Commission, officially launched and deployed its digital ecosystem in Saly-Portudal, Republic of Senegal, on Monday, 24th November, 2025.
The operationalization of this digital ecosystem—comprising the EGDC website, the ECOWAS Gender Observatory (ECOGO), a virtual workspace, an artificial intelligence system, and a security command center—marks a major step in the digital transformation of gender policies in West Africa.
Thanks to the various tools it offers, this ecosystem will enable the EGDC and its partners to increase the visibility of their initiatives, improve real-time data collection and analysis, and promote more effective regional cooperation in support of gender equality.
The ECOWAS Commissioner for Human Development and Social Affairs praised the relevance of this tool, which will provide the EGDC with a comprehensive, real-time overview of its achievements in member states, thereby facilitating decision-making.
