ECOWAS Enhances Contract Control and Vetting Processes through Capacity Building Workshop in Lagos

12 Feb, 2025

The Department of Internal Services, pursuant to the workplan of its Directorate of Administration and General Services (DAGS), approved by the President of the Commission, holds a Capacity Building on Control and Vetting of Contracts in Lagos, Nigeria from 10th to 12th February 2025, to identify the factors hindering the timely signing of Contracts on Donor/Community funded activities within ECOWAS Institutions, Agencies, and Offices.

This initiative underscores ECOWAS’ commitment to streamlining and improving its contract review processes. At the conclusion of the workshop, it is expected that clearly defined and developed Control Checklists will be in use to facilitate the Review and Vetting functions on ECOWAS Contracts with acceptable Timelines to guide all officers in such functions.

The workshop brings together key officers from the Legal Affairs, Administration & General Services, Social Affairs, Information Technology Services, and External Relations Directorates of the ECOWAS Commission. Additionally, representatives from the Office of the Auditor-General (ECOWAS Institutions), the ECOWAS Parliament, and the ECOWAS Court of Justice will participate, ensuring a comprehensive and collaborative approach to improving contract processes within the organization.

This capacity-building effort reflects ECOWAS’s ongoing commitment to efficiency, transparency, and good governance in contract management, reinforcing its dedication to the effective execution of donor and community-funded projects.
