{"id":124699,"date":"2025-12-26T18:37:25","date_gmt":"2025-12-26T18:37:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ecowas.int\/?p=124699"},"modified":"2025-12-26T18:37:56","modified_gmt":"2025-12-26T18:37:56","slug":"in-conakry-mr-abdoulie-janneh-head-of-the-ecowas-election-observation-mission-eom-takes-part-in-the-observers-briefing-session-and-meets-with-the-director-general-of-elections-dge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ecowas.int\/?p=124699","title":{"rendered":"In Conakry, Mr Abdoulie Janneh, head of the ECOWAS Election Observation Mission (EOM), takes part in the observers&#8217; briefing session and meets with the Director General of Elections (DGE)."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the run-up to the presidential election in Guinea scheduled for 28 December 2025, the Head of the ECOWAS Electoral Observation Mission (EOM), Mr Abdoulie Janneh, participated on 25 December 2025 in Conakry in the briefing session for the 133 short-term observers (STOs) deployed by ECOWAS.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to <strong>Mr Abdoulie Janneh<\/strong>, the meeting was attended by the Deputy Head of the EOM, <strong>Senator Lawan Gana Guba<\/strong>, the Commissioner for Political Affairs of the ECOWAS Commission, <strong>Ambassador Abdel-Fatau Musah<\/strong>, the ECOWAS Resident Representative in Guinea, <strong>H.E. Louis<\/strong> <strong>Blaise Aka Brou<\/strong>, the Director of Cabinet of the President of the ECOWAS Commission, <strong>Mr Abdou Kolley<\/strong>, as well as representatives from the ECOWAS Parliament, the ECOWAS Court of Justice and the Committee of Permanent Representatives of Member States to ECOWAS.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In his speech, Mr Abdoulie Janneh mentioned that the presence of 133 short-term observers from the ECOWAS EOM demonstrates ECOWAS&#8217; commitment to supporting Guinea in its return to constitutional order and its full reintegration as a member state of ECOWAS.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He also reminded the hundred or so observers present that they represent the eyes and ears of ECOWAS and that their various field observation reports will form the basis of ECOWAS&#8217; final report on the conduct of the presidential election on 28 December 2025. \u2018\u2019ECOWAS has faith in and urges Guineans to organise a democratic, inclusive and peaceful electoral process\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Ambassador Abdel-Fatau Musah, Commissioner for Political Affairs, Peace and Security of the ECOWAS Commission, praised the authorities of the Republic of Guinea for organising this presidential election, a symbol of democracy and a return to constitutional order in the country.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere, the Head of Mission, accompanied by his delegation, paid a courtesy visit to the General Directorate of Elections (DGE) later in the day to enquire about the preparations for the electoral process.
